Description

A natural by-product that softens, preserves and waterproofs all articles of smooth leather and vinyl. Helps prevent salt stains.

Fiebing’s Mink Oil is a popular product for conditioning, softening, and waterproofing leather items. Here’s how to use it effectively:

1. **Preparation**: Start by cleaning the leather surface thoroughly to remove any dirt, dust, or previous coatings. You should use Fiebing’s Saddle Soap to clean the leather. Allow the leather to dry completely before applying the mink oil.

2. **Test Patch**: Before applying the mink oil to the entire leather item, it’s wise to test it on a small, inconspicuous area to ensure compatibility and to see how the leather reacts to it.

3. **Application**: Once you’ve done the test patch and are satisfied with the results, apply a small amount of Fiebing’s Mink Oil to a clean, soft cloth or sponge. Rub the mink oil into the leather using circular motions, ensuring even coverage. Pay special attention to areas that are particularly dry or worn.

4. **Allow Absorption**: After applying the mink oil, allow it to penetrate the leather for some time. Depending on the temperature and humidity, this may take a few hours to overnight. The leather will absorb the oil, which helps to soften and condition it.

5. **Remove Excess**: If there’s any excess mink oil remaining on the surface of the leather after absorption, you can wipe it off with a clean, dry cloth. This step helps prevent any oily residue from transferring onto clothing or other surfaces.

6. **Buffing (optional)**: If you desire a shinier finish, you can buff the leather with a clean, dry cloth after the excess oil has been removed. Buffing helps to bring out the natural luster of the leather.

7. **Repeat as Needed**: Depending on the condition of the leather, you may need to reapply the mink oil periodically to maintain its softness, flexibility, and waterproofing properties.
